Baltic Technology Group supports young IT talents
May 25, 2009

Daugavpils University (http://www.du.lv/en) held its 4th annual "Pascal's Wheel" competition on April 8th for high school graduates from the southeast region of Latvia.

The prospective university IT students compete with each other over general IT concepts and specific Microsoft Office elements by answering theoretical  questions and performing lab tasks.  Entries are judged by teachers and professors of the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics

The competition is called "Pascal's Wheel" after the French mathematician Blaise Pascal, who began work on his mechanical calculator (the Pascaline) at age 19.  Wheel dials were the primary component of Pascal's calculator.  The wheel can also be seen to symbolize continuous movement.

BTG considers "Pascal's Wheel" a worthwhile and important event for high school graduates aspiring to a Technology career and BTG is pleased to be able to sponsor the winning prize for the event.
